HUMPBACK WHALE WATCHING

Mozambique is fast becoming THE Whale Watching destination ! TOFO is world renowned for its year round population of Whale Sharks and Mantas, apart from these two of the Ocean " BIG 5 " we are  privileged to have Humpback Whales on our doorstep !

Whale Watching season is from June - November ! Liquid Adventures offers daily Safaris to experiance the annual migration of large groups of Humpback's. These majestic mammals can be viewed Breaching, Spyhopping and tail - slapping with their calves. Our two hour boat Safaris allow a close - up encounter with minimal impact and maximum photo time !

Our boats are skippered by qualified local skippers who have an intimate knowledge of the Ocean ! Due to fact that the Humpbacks generally have calves with them , viewing is conducted from the boat at a safe distance.

During last seasons Whale Watching period we were fortunate enough to be graced with 6 Orcas " Killer Whales " chasing a Humpback Calf.

A female " mother" can measure up to 35 ft - 40ft and the calf would be 1/3 of her length and could weigh in at one ton at birth.

Everyday we learn more from these wonderful endangered animals ! For the divers that are diving the reefs off Tofo, hearing and seeing them underfwater is a sight and sound never to be forgotten. It has recently been discovered that the calves who are babies, less than a year old, also make sounds, communicating with their mothers.

Liquid Adventures is situated on the highest point of Tofo Bay which makes viewing a pleasure with our telescope, as the Whales are often seen very close to shore.
